Welcome to my Vashon Rocketry site. This site is dedicated to the liquid propellant model rockets manufactured by Vashon Industries (and later, by Estes Industries) in the 1960s and 70s.

I purchased a Vashon Valkyrie-1 rocket in 1972 (in partnership with my friend Donald Miller) and flew it a few times, but with unspectacular results. I lost track of that model; maybe Donald still has it.

In recent years, I've been using the power of eBay to purchase old Vashon models, both to collect and to fly. Vashon rockets are very cool (and I'm not referring to the temperature of the exhaust) — with their metal motors, liquefied gas propellant, and pressure controlled recovery deployment — so I like to collect the technology. Also, it bothered me that I didn't have good results flying the model back in 1972, and I was convinced that I could do better.
