Return to My Fleet

Viking-1b

This is my rendition of the Vashon Viking two-staged rocket. This was not built from a Viking kit, but was built from individual V-1 motors and a Vashon staging adapter kit I got on eBay.

This model incorporates the various upgrades used in my Valkyrie-2b, such as plywood fins mounted on ST-10 tubes and spring-loaded ejection. My booster fins are slightly oversized to help slow the booster's descent more, but I suspect damage to the booster motor or separator is likely when flying a Viking.

The RockSim simulations show that this model is very iffy using R152a propellant (difluoroethane), and it will need a hot day and very careful fueling (so I have not flown this as yet).
